Koats for Kids
This year, the 2005-2006 FCCLA State Executive Council chose Koats for Kids for Project H.E.A.R.T. (Helping everyone at the right time) This is a joint project with the New Mexico Channel, KOAT. To kick this off we are asking each State Officer to begin collecting coats prior to the Regional Meeting November 17th-18th in Albuquerque. Then, because December and January are the main months when kids need coats the most due to harsh winter conditions and we want to make this project a statewide success!
We are asking each chapter to donate at least 5-10 coats during those months. Coats must be in good wearable condition, clean, have all buttons or zippers and have no holes, tears or stains. The coats will be distributed at no charge, directly to any child that needs a warm coat for this winter. Please help by getting your chapters involved, and start collections today!

This year’s State Executive Council, has targeted the Los Griegos Multi-Services Center in Albuquerque, for Project H.E.A.R.T. 2005.
Please read the following description and at the end you will find a list of items they can use. We will make our donation on Saturday morning, so please bring your items to the closing session.
“The Los Griegos Multi-Services center houses four different medical agencies that are geared towards bringing low-cost orno-cost services into the community. Our program is gearedtowards helping with the social services. We operate anemergency food pantry where individuals in need can get a food box to help them through their tough times. We also have emergency clothing and diaper assistance. In January of this year we became an authorized agency to distribute the TEFAP Commodity foods which is a federally funded program that allows income eligible people to receive commodity food every other month. In addition to these services, we provide our clients with information and referrals to an extensive network of services rangingfrom housing to job development.. Although the City of Albuquerque funds our staff and facility, we do not get funding to purchase the much needed supplies. We are always in need of canned goods (tuna or other protein items), diapers, personal hygiene products (tooth paste, tooth brushes, shampoo, deodorant and soap), as well as toilet paper.”
We are hoping that you chapter will participate at state meeting and help this very worthy organization provide for their clients.
